Do this one thing and everything else will fall into place

Start somewhere. Start something. Make it significant and challenging but relatively easy to start. Do it consistently. Eventually, everything else will fall into place.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. - Confucius

Imagine this: Your life is in chaos. Your job sucks, your relationships suck, your health suck - basically, you suck. You have to do something. You already know you have to do something, but there’s just too much going on. Which front to fight on first? Where to even begin? Moreover, Why?

And the solution is this: Just start somewhere. Anything really. Join a gym, start waking up early, start running, learn cooking whatever. Just pick up one thing. Once you start doing your ‘one thing’, and do it consistently, something inside you will start growing. That something inside you is called confidence. Confidence in yourself. Confidence that you can get something done. Confidence that you can get much more and much better things done. And the confidence to actually start doing those much more and much better things.

This is what happens, once your ‘one thing’ is sorted out, your mind will be conflicted. “How can I be doing this ‘one thing’ so well and have my other things all messed up?” It’s very difficult and uncomfortable for your brain to live in a conflicted state so it tries everything it can to get in that comfortable state again.

And since you’ve put in so much effort and time in your ‘one thing’ already, your mind won’t allow you to resolve this mental conflict by tossing the said ‘one thing’ up into the dustbin. So the only option left for your mind is to get the ‘other things’ in order. Your other things will feed off the confidence from your ‘one thing’ and eventually become ‘your thing’.

This nice little short film shows, even something as ridiculous as buying a new dustbin can spiral your life into awesomeness.
